Our time together is not meant to be an hour long posing session. My approach to family photos is to take full advantage of your natural family dynamics and interactions. Just bring the love and I'll take care of the rest!! It's okay if someone doesn't want to let go of Mamma's hand or would rather be on Dad's shoulders than sitting next to baby sister. That is okay! That is family!! 

As you know, there is NOTHING predictable about planning a family event of any sort. The only thing that can be done is to make sure everyone is fed and relatively well rested. Outside of that, it's rolling with waves and laughing every chance you get! Taking family photos should be NO different! The energy that you have on day one of family vacation: keep that same energy ya'll!!
